The Southeastern Amateur Course (Columbus Country Club)

Hole 1
Dogleg left Par 5, 548 Yards

It has been stated before that Mr. Ross liked to let the player ease into their round. Not necessarily giving them an easy hole, but just one to get the day started in a positive direction.

The first hole is unique in that the tee box is actually part of the practice putting surface - as well as #10 Tee.

There is a flag in the distance for your aiming point off the tee. A tee shot starting there and turning over will catch a fairway slope that will carry the ball towards the green. That is of course unless you are long enough, and daring enough to try to cut the dogleg. Your second shot will be downhill toward the green and a tempting look at the green. But beware! Over the green lies a bunker that protects a ball from going into the lake behind the green, and anything on the back left 1/3 of the green has a chance of being taken down to the collection area where getting up and down will take a real touch of class.

It's good to walk away from the hole with par or better.
