LET ME REPEAT... WHAT A FINISH!
Derek Chang shoots a tournament best 64 on the final day to win the Southeastern Amateur for the second year in a row!

Day 3 ended with four players tied for the lead at 7 under par. Both Carter Newman and William Sjaichudin carded 67's, tied for the day's low score, to get into a four way tie for first. Wesley Bryan and Chris Piumelli are the other two players tied for the lead.

Six more players follow closely behind. Kyle Scott, George Bryan IV, Mitch Krywulycz, Will Kropp, Taylor Floyd, and Derek Chang are all at 6 under par. Making 10 players within one stroke of the lead. Sixteen players are within 4 strokes of the lead and that means two things: 1. This very exciting finish is going to be anybody's tournament to win and 2. The girls at the 8 foot leaderboard behind 18 are going to have a very busy day!
The makeup of the top 10 is even more interesting. Within those players, you have three NCAA National Champions, three returning Southeastern Champions, and three players who are playing the Southeastern for the first time.
Statistically speaking, the highest ranked players in the field are George and Wesley Bryan, but with the leaderboard this stacked, I'm not sure statistics mean anything. Even the players at -3, -2, and -1 have a shot at this tournament. This course has yielded 63's and 64's in the past although playing conditions seem to be tougher this year.
Whatever happens, it is guaranteed to be an exciting day. We want to thank all of the players who have made the Southeastern part of their summer season and all of you who have been checking in here throughout the week. We definitely want to thank the Southeastern Amateur Board, the outstanding volunteers who have smiled throughout the heat wave all week, Brian Stubbs and his staff, William Smith and his staff, and Leslie McDaniel and Alice Varner who are providing the incredible photography you see on this site this week.
Day 2 sees higher scoring and familiar names
Scoring averages rose by half a stroke on Thursday. The heat was one factor, and pin locations the other said Rules Chairman Richard Wilson.
But some very familier names crept up the leaderboard along with a few new ones.
Wesley Bryan started his day even par through the front and then shot 32 on the back, taking he outright lead after his birdie on 17. His second round 68 was good enough for 8 under total and the lead by one stroke.

2007 Champion and older brother George Bryan IV briefly held the lead today. He made the turn at one under par and then birdied all three short par fours that make up "Oh Man! Corner". He added a birdie on 17 which gave him the lead, but then bogied the 18th to slip back to 7 under and T2.
2009 Champion Derek Chang made the move of the day signing for the day's second lowest round of 66. Chang also held the lead briefly Thursday. Georgia Tech's Seth Reeves holds the honor of low day 2 round with a 65. Reeves moved up to T8 with a three under total.
2008 Champion Mitch Krywulycz shot 68 and got back in the mix at 2 under par and T15 while NCAA National Champion teamates Taylor Floyd and Carter Newman each carded one under 70's leaving them T5 and T8 respectively.
First Round leader Will Kropp was steady finishing the day one under for a total of -7 and T2. Chris Piumelli also moved up the leaderboard signing for a 67 which gave him a total of six under par T5.
The course at CCC did not receive any rain on Thursday night, and the heat is expected to be extreme on Friday. Tee times were moved up half an hour to 7:30 AM in an effort to avoid as much heat as possible. Green speeds and firmness are expected to increase on Day 3 and the leaderboard is jam packed. Moving day promises to be exciting!
Is there anything better than the start of a golf tournament? On Wednesday, the 2010 Am-Am competition kicked off the Southeastern.
Will Kropp came out to an early lead carding a first round 65 - 6 under par. Taylor Floyd of the NCAA National Champion Augusta State Jaguars and Wesley Bryan from the University of South Carolina follow close behind at 5 under. With Wesley Graham, Brad Smith, and 2007 Southeastern Champion George Bryan IV at 4 under par.

In the morning wave, Joe Lee, Dick Stone, 2009 Champion Derek Chang, and Brent Whitehead shot a 124 to take the honors. And in the afternoon wave Arch Arnold, Brad Arnold, 2007 Champion George Bryan IV, and JP Putnam shot a 124 for their winning score. The Am-Am competition is determined using the best Net Score and best Gross Score from each hole.
Wednesday night brought a small shower keeping the greens receptive so scoring should again be good. Players are all going off number 1 today in threesomes and admission is free to spectators.
